about me

hey, I am monocyte or mono for short. I'm a medical student from turkey and this is a blog where I talk about stuff that I care about or the things that happen in my life. my interests include:

• reading manga (this is a semi new one, I welcome any new recommendations)

• listening to music. I particularly enjoy metal, rock, post-punk, synthwave and genre bending artists. if there is a weird mix like jazz, country, electronic, opera and metal I'm on that shit. (yes that's real and I love that band). I also welcome music recommendations. (reach out to me!)

• I use linux and try to use open source software if I can but I'm not too deep in that rabbithole.

• I also do origami! I'm starting to branch out to kusudamas from single sheet pieces and it's fun.

couple fun facts

• I am really allergic to cats but that does not stop me from petting stray cats.

• actually I'm allergic to almost all pets plus pollen and god I hate spring.

• I use an sd card on my phone to download and listen to music like a caveman. I don't use spotify or other streaming services unless I don't have the thing I want to listen downloaded. you can check here for my reasons and my process.

• I'm not on any social media apart from youtube, if you count that. I disable shorts on it though, I find them to be too distracting.

• my vision is really bad without glasses. like can't see faces from a meter bad.

• I'm an ear rumbler. I can contract the muscles inside my ear (musculus tensor tympani if you are a nerd) at will and it makes a rumbling sound. I have to close my eyes to do it though. I don't know, it isn't all that useful. I can also open my eustachian tubes at will too.

• I like coffee more than tea despite living in the country with highest consumption of tea per capita. I still like tea though.

• I write without capital letters most of the time. I think it gives off a warmer and more laid back tone.
