my problem with fediverse

I've decided to step away from fediverse for the time being. there isn't really any grand reason to it other than the fact that I've slowly lost interest in it. I couldn't really find the communities I was looking for in it. for example I could easily find people who posted about programming and tech but finding people who posted about things like origami were really hard.

fediverse also has a lot of inter-instance drama which gets tiring. I set up word filters to block them but some always seeped through the cracks. the same is also true about politics, especially american politics.

I think my issue is less about fediverse and more about social media in general. I feel like microblog type of interaction incentivises low effort posts with not much thought put behind it and that ultimately leads to misunderstandings and unnecessary hostility. fediverse is great because it puts the control of data back in the hands of the user but I think the underlying concept is flawed.

if you use fediverse and enjoy it that's awesome. I will be chilling in this blog in the meantime and who knows maybe I will return there in the future.
